Creating Technology That Evolves with Users

I believe the most critical phases of system architecture are requirements definition and functional design. However, when these steps are entirely outsourced to external development agencies, the system often lacks a genuine understanding of "the floor" (frontline operations), resulting in software that fails to meet daily operational realities.

In our early days, I was the one who personally managed those operations. But every business has its own unique frontline workflow and challenges. I realized that to continuously refine and evolve a truly superior platform, we couldn't rely solely on our own experience, we had to directly incorporate the real-world feedback of those operating on the ground. This realization naturally led to our core core philosophy: building our ecosystem through "co-creation" alongside our users.

This foundational principle of "evolving with frontline user feedback" has never wavered. Today, as our network of partner companies grows, their collective insights continuously feed back into the system, allowing WASABI SWITCH to evolve into a stronger, more sophisticated platform every single day.

Breaking through the Growth Bottleneck

The single biggest challenge is a resource bottleneck and the psychological friction that stems from it.

Unlike traditional retail, the reuse industry involves a vast number of operational phases: procurement, pricing, item registration, photography, multi-channel listing, real-time inventory and order management, shipping and data analytics. As companies add more sales channels, the workload multiplies exponentially, making manual, labor-intensive operations completely unsustainable.

Expanding channels should inherently go hand-in-hand with implementing system automation, but choosing the right platform that genuinely fits frontline operations presents a significant hurdle for many.

Furthermore, an even larger obstacle is the psychological mindset. Before even taking the leap, executives often anticipate the overwhelming operational burden and decide to hold back on expansion altogether.

To overcome this, businesses must shift away from relying on manual labor and adopt an integrated platform like WASABI SWITCH, one that is engineered around real-world workflows. By automating repetitive operational tasks, companies can eliminate both functional bottlenecks and mental anxiety, empowering them to scale their global footprint with confidence.

Building Innovation through Partnership

As a leader, my primary principle has been to position ourselves not merely as a software vendor, but as an active "co-creation partner" accompanying our users, while maintaining an uncompromising velocity of development to bring frontline feedback to life immediately.

Instead of unilaterally handing over a system, we view those who use our platform every day as true partners and cultivate a culture of deep listening. What might look like a trivial UI inconvenience on a screen can become a massive operational roadblock when repeated hundreds of times a day on the floor. Recognizing these real-world friction points and prioritizing them as our primary development input is the absolute foundation of our culture.

Crucially, this requires exceptional speed. Listening to feedback means nothing if it takes months to deploy a fix; delayed execution erodes trust and discourages partners from sharing their insights. In 2025 alone, we rolled out roughly 700 updates, mostly driven by daily user feedback. This rapid turnaround creates a powerful virtuous cycle where partners actively contribute ideas because they know their voices drive immediate change.

"Understand the floor and grow the system together." By continuously embodying this mindset at the leadership level, we foster an organizational culture where user feedback directly powers continuous innovation.
The Next Era of E-Commerce Automation

I believe the technological innovations that will transform e-commerce management most dramatically over the next few years are AI capabilities that completely dissolve two major barriers: "item recognition" and "language."
First, regarding the "item recognition barrier," the reuse industry has historically relied on labor-intensive processes during intake and cataloging. Moving forward, simply capturing a photo with a smartphone will allow AI to not only identify the exact item, but also instantly evaluate its market value and determine the optimal global marketplace where it will fetch the highest price.

Second, regarding the "language barrier," advanced automated translation and multi-platform category mapping are creating an environment where businesses can launch cross-border e-commerce seamlessly and borderlessly, completely removing linguistic friction.

At WASABI, we have already integrated AI into our "STOCK SWITCH" mobile app to automate product identification through smartphone photography. However, we are not stopping there. We are rapidly evolving our platform by fusing cutting-edge recognition and analytical AI with our real-time inventory synchronization infrastructure. Our goal is to build a future where anyone, anywhere, can effortlessly deliver unique, one-of-a-kind goods to the most lucrative markets across the globe.

  • Building a platform is never the end of the line, it is only the beginning. True innovation comes from evolving continuously alongside the people who use it every day.

Turning Frontline Insights into Innovation

What sets us apart is our absolute commitment to "listening to frontline voices directly and in person," rather than relying solely on screen interactions or system analytics.

To put this into practice, we organize major industry events like "Reuse Fes" to create direct dialogue between diverse partner enterprises and marketplace allies. Even more uniquely, we regularly visit our partner companies' physical operational sites, the actual shop floors and warehouses to host hands-on study sessions where we serve as instructors.

By engaging face-to-face with frontline staff right where the work happens, we share operational know-how while gaining a deep understanding of the subtle friction points and true bottlenecks that can never be captured through support tickets or user logs alone.

These raw, unfiltered insights gathered directly from daily operations are fed straight into our development pipeline and rapidly transformed into functional features. Going into the field, standing side-by-side with our partners and maintaining an open, ongoing dialogue is the only way to drive product innovation that is genuinely meaningful and grounded in operational reality.
Innovation Begins after Launch

My piece of advice is simple: "Building a platform or service is never the end of the line, it is only the beginning."

The real journey begins after launch and long-term success relies entirely on how effectively you continuously elevate its quality. Most importantly, you must never dictate that evolution solely within the confines of your own boardroom.

Go directly to the users and customers who rely on your product every day, listen to their voices firsthand and face their feedback with absolute sincerity. Continuously feeding those insights back into your product is the only true pathway to driving meaningful, lasting innovation.

Deep Dive

Choosing a Co-Creation System for Cross-Border Reuse Commerce

A reuse retailer expanding beyond its home market faces a constraint that ordinary e-commerce systems often hide until volume rises. Each item is unique. A watch, bag, camera or garment cannot be replaced by another unit pulled from the same SKU pool. When the same listing appears across domestic marketplaces and overseas channels, even a short delay between the sale and stock removal can lead to a double sale, a refund dispute, a trust issue and a marketplace penalty. The buying question is not whether software can connect channels. It is whether it can keep frontline operations moving while protecting single-stock inventory from these narrow failure points. Product intake sets the pace. Cross-border reuse commerce depends on listing volume, but listing capacity is capped by how quickly staff can identify, photograph, register and describe each item. Heavy manual entry turns product intake into a backlog. Strong solutions reduce keystrokes at the start of the workflow, then carry product data into marketplace formats without forcing staff to rebuild categories or attributes for every channel. Translation matters most when it is integrated into listing workflows rather than treated as a separate content task. Price control adds another operational burden. Currency movement, regional pricing, commission structures and marketplace economics can drain hours when teams adjust storefronts manually. Buyers should look for software that can apply pricing rules at scale and keep exchange-rate changes from becoming spreadsheet work. This affects how quickly a seller can open a new channel and test demand without pushing routine updates back onto the people handling orders. An even better test is whether the software mirrors the sequence of work on the floor. Siloed tools may be acceptable when departments operate independently, but reuse commerce rarely behaves that neatly. Sourcing records, acquisition cost, listing time, sale location and buyer data all shape margin decisions. When those records sit in separate tools, management pays for integrations while staff pays for rework. A stronger system traces each item from intake to sale and gives management a clearer view of where time, margin, inventory accuracy and channel performance are changing. Co-creation deserves scrutiny. The phrase can become little more than marketing language unless it shows up in release behavior. In this market, minor screen friction can become a major delay when repeated across hundreds of items. Buyers should favor vendors that treat user feedback as product input and translate practical improvements into live releases at a pace that keeps pace with marketplace change. The right system should not force reuse operators to choose between channel expansion and staff workload. WASABI is a strong fit for executives seeking cross-border growth without losing control of item-level operations. WASABI SWITCH centralizes multi-store listing management, order processing, inventory synchronization and real-time stock updates within a single platform, helping retailers manage one-of-a-kind inventory across multiple marketplaces. STOCK SWITCH, its companion mobile application, simplifies product registration through a familiar smartphone interface. At the same time, WASABI continues to expand its AI-assisted item identification and registration capabilities to streamline listing workflows further. Its automated translation, marketplace-specific pricing, live foreign exchange updates and marketplace attribute management reduce much of the operational friction that slows international expansion. The platform's co-creation model is equally distinctive. Rather than treating customer feedback as routine support, WASABI incorporates frontline operational insights into continuous product development, releasing frequent enhancements that reflect real-world workflows. Where standard integrations are unavailable, the company supports marketplace connectivity via API or CSV-based connections, enabling businesses to expand into a broader range of reuse marketplaces. For organizations managing single-stock inventory across global channels, WASABI offers a measured and well-aligned recommendation. ...Read more
