In a world upended by an unrelenting virus, global businesses, organisations, schools and individuals had to pivot digitally in order to remain connected with each other. And with the ever greater acceleration of digital transformation, digital identity has become a mainstay in both cyberspace and the real world. Digital ID unlocks access to government services, education, banking, public healthcare and many other critical services.

According to a latest McKinsey report, a well-designed and executed Digital ID system enables civic and social empowerment, but also makes possible real and inclusive economic gains for the country. In fact, extending digital ID coverage to the entire country could unlock economic value equivalent to 3 13 percent of the country's GDP, with just over half of the potential economic value accruing to individuals.

It is therefore worth singling out a company pushing the boundaries of biometric technologies by empowering digital identity to a revolutionary next level. Singapore based TOTM Technologies is redefining digital identity particularly in the space of Digital onboarding and Digital ID for various government programs. The company offers up to the minute multimodal biometric-based technologies to secure integrated communication across networks and devices.

“It is our in-house competencies pertaining to iris recognition, facial and fingerprint detection, and digital ID technologies that are making us one of the most trusted providers of identity management solutions,” says Pierre Prunier, CEO and Executive Director of TOTM Technologies.
Powered by relentless R&D, state-of-the-art technology, and robust platforms based on core biometric technologies (face, finger, and iris recognition), the company’s solutions have been facilitating some of the world’s largest national ID programs and immigration proceedings. To that end, TOTM Technologies has transacted over 370 million identities around the world. In Indonesia, the company has built thousands of enrollment stations where they have trained government employees to enrol their citizens for a National ID program using iris, face and finger identification technologies. At the same time, the company has been able to implement liveness detection technology in case of rice and medical subsidy programs where the person in the queue can take a selfie, following which, the administrator finds a match in the database among millions of contacts within milliseconds all to ensure that only the right people are receiving the grants from the government. Similarly, even in the private sector, TOTM Technologies’ solutions have been put to great use. For instance, in case of rideshare companies offering a fleet of vehicles on hire in an hourly basis, the rider can use the specific app and take a selfie using which, the rideshare company gets to know if the face in the selfie matches the face on the driver’s license to confirm if the right user is booking the vehicle through the app.

What differentiates the company even more is that unlike other larger organizations running on bureaucracies, at TOTM Technologies, every employee right from the CTO to the team of developers is involved in every project to guarantee the best possible outcome for its clients. “Having a small team helps us to be more agile and offer a personalized service at all times,” adds Prunier. On that note, it is quite obvious that TOTM Technologies has had its fair share of success.

But the greatest testament to their success is their inclusion in the MSCI Singapore Micro Cap Index since the start of trading in December this year. Taking note of this key milestone that will enhance TOTM Technologies’ trading liquidity and increase its visibility among global investors, the company is ready to step up its engagement with the investment community and promote its value proposition as a leading expert in the identity management solutions space. Finally, the company is also planning on some exciting mergers and acquisitions next year to handle much larger projects in the near future. “Having firmly established ourselves in Indonesia, we have opened a new subsidiary in India and the U.S. where we are hiring highly skilled employees to ramp up our R&D processes outside Indonesia and foster business growth in the days to come,” concludes Prunier.
