In a world where democratization of digital communication is a common goal, Japanese firm SoVeC has cracked the code like no other. Its venture was born from a strategic partnership between Sony Network Communications and a top-notch PR agency in Japan. The idea was simple yet groundbreaking: blend the latest technology with expert communication skills to make digital communication accessible for all.

With SoVeC, companies are experiencing the future of digital communication—solutions that are smart, efficient, and, most importantly, redefine the way businesses communicate in the digital era.

SoVeC has been gaining attention in recent years for its ability to leverage Sony Group’s technology to provide one of the best XR experiences in the industry. SoVeC’s market presence is outlined by three core solutions, complemented by ongoing explorations in new technology-based proof of concept and various trials.

While its premier service, SoVeC Smart Video, harnesses AI to help companies automate video content in-house without any specialized knowledge of video production, Virtual Exhibition Platform helps companies venture into virtual exhibits. Leveraging advanced VR technology and sophisticated 3D computer graphics, the platform creates experiences that closely mimic physical exhibitions yet are entirely virtual.

The third core solution is XR CHANNEL, which stands as SoVeC’s most forward-thinking innovation. This mobile application is the nexus of three sophisticated technologies: an intricate 3D map, the interactivity of AR technology, and SoVeC’s groundbreaking visual positioning system (VPS). This trio of technologies weaves together an augmented reality so intricately linked with the physical environment that it blurs the line between the digital and the tangible world.

How does that happen?

VPS—SoVeC’s crowning achievement in precision technology. While GPS can guide you to a street corner, VPS can lead you to the exact spot on that corner, with pinpoint accuracy brought by sophisticated cameras and sensors that scan and align with 3D maps.
With two exclusive types of VPS, SoVeC narrows the position to a few centimeters. The accuracy is so impactful; this is the best in the world, like no other. This allows AR content to be overlaid onto actual surroundings with such detail it seems to naturally belong in that space, enhancing reality rather than distorting it.

"VPS is emerging as a pivotal technology, drawing keen interest from major players like Google, Niantic, and Apple. What makes the user experience so extraordinary is that our application is blending AR content into real urban landscape with amazing accuracy using Sony’s advanced VPS technology. It doesn’t rely on specialized devices like VR headsets and all you need is a smartphone,” says Mamoru Kamikawa, CEO of SoVeC.

The pictures users take on their phone cameras are sent to SoVeC’s server, initiating a sophisticated AI analysis. The AI discerns the user’s location and the direction they are facing, along with the angle the images were taken to generate 3D maps. This precision creates AR content that looks like a fusion of digital and real urban space.

The core tenet of SoVeC is to bring ‘moving experiences’ to communication between consumers and companies and increase the value of a brand.

For instance, at the heart of Ginza, Japan, is Mitsukoshi Ginza Store, a famous and historic departmental store chain. It was looking for a solution to attract more customers to walk into its store. In response, SoVeC leveraged XR CHANNEL to design a captivating Christmas campaign, introducing an awe-inspiring virtual 3D chandelier emerging from the store's exterior wall.

When customers used their mobile cameras to scan the store exterior, they witnessed the virtual 3D chandelier majestically appear from the store wall. This breathtaking XR experience succeeded in drawing customers to the store and immersing them in a unique, augmented reality-enhanced world.

The campaign ignited a big buzz on social media. A lot of people came to experience it and capture photos of the AR objects, posting them across different social platforms. It also garnered attention from both print and online news media, proclaiming, “This is the new way of entertainment.”

SoVeC also supported the East Japan Railway Company (JR East) in developing an AR experience that would emerge virtual trains at the physical Ueno Station in Tokyo. This event was very much appreciated by old train fans because it is not possible for them to experience historical trains. The high accuracy of VPS technology made it possible to appear on the rails.

These are quintessential examples of how SoVeC is recreating the script of digital communication that can optimize and maximize the marketing activities of enterprises. As the company ardently puts it, “We are on a mission to evolve communication with powerful technology and shape the future of interactive experiences in the digital realm.”
