Powering Digital Governance with Low-code RegTech Tools

The future of governance is digital. This trend is propelled by the proliferation of smart mobile devices, 3/4/5G networks, and the inefficiencies, inaccuracies and time delays with paper-based governance measures, all further accelerated by COVID-19. The public sector typifies the increased global demand for developing applications to improve on-site data collection, real-time reporting and replace outmoded processes. In this new dynamic world of governance, public sector entities are predictably trying to ramp up their abilities to respond to new administrative challenges and fast changing rules and regulations. Consequently, business-level and field personnel, especially in government bodies, now require the ability to quickly create their own digital forms and mobile workplace apps to streamline their governance activities. Founded in 2005 as BlinkMobile delivering an SMS noticeboard system to local government and sporting clubs in Australia, OneBlink, with its Low-code App Development Suite (LcS) has made a name for itself in bringing regulatory technology (RegTech) expertise within the reach of government agencies. LcS, offered as a cloudbased SaaS product, is designed by OneBlink specifically to fast-track the digitisation of the varied business processes dealt with by public sector agencies. The solution is available as a subscription service either directly through OneBlink or AWS Marketplace, where the former has recently launched its online store.
With LcS, OneBlink has successfully embarked on longterm collaborations with some of Australia’s most innovative state government agencies. For instance, the New South Wales-based SafeWork NSW leverages OneBlink’s lowcode solution to inspect work sites, checking for OHS/WHS compliance. LcS allows auditors and inspectors to capture and submit client information on-site, regardless of internet connectivity. They can also create, issue, print or email audit reports and notices to clients, with their client job history at their fingertips. “Safework NSW recently extended this engagement to include the SpeakUp App, a public-facing tool to quickly and easily report any safety concerns workers may have in their workplace,” informs Williams. Similarly, the Department of Health and Human Services at Victoria utilises OneBlink’s solution to develop a safe food handling app used by 75 local government authorities across the state.

Alongside directly serving the public sector, OneBlink also has strategic partnerships with CivicPlus (focused on citizen engagement solutions in Nth America) and global service software provider Freshworks. Through these alliances, OneBlink enables their respective users to develop tailored front-end forms or app interfaces utilising LcS, which expands the functionality of each companies’ products. These partnerships are the beginning of further strategic alliances with international ISVs looking to add low-code capability to their own products.

Based on these international partnerships, and in tandem with the market push towards e-governance, OneBlink intends to spread its footprint across Oceania and beyond. “Our public sector market presence continues to expand beyond Australia and New Zealand, with growing acknowledgement that RegTech solutions – specifically low-code solutions – have a major role in the move to digital government,” concludes Besgrove.
