Geronimo has been pioneering digital customer experience over the last seven years, keeping a step ahead of the seismic shifts in the digital experience landscape. They’ve now made the strategic shift to add Web3 capability, and it’s not a side interest. Building on their strong Web2 capabilities, they’re bringing proven scalable Web3 capability to transform customer experience for brands across APAC.

Geronimo is an agency born from the age of Web2, using leading edge mobile technology including location services, augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and gamification to drive consumer engagement and loyalty. “Geronimo has always been helping brands connect with their customers where they are, in the environments where they love to engage, with the technology that drives immersive experiences”, says Mark Murray, CEO.

It was a shift that transformed many industries. Uber’s transformation of the taxi and delivery industry, PokemonGo changing location based gaming or Tinder changing dating forever are just some of the many transformations the market has seen over the last few years. With that shift in engagement from traditional desktop digital engagement to mobile, they’re seeing a real shift in customers’ expectations of brands for experience and loyalty.

“As consumers have engaged with mobile experiences on mass, so too have businesses as they capitalise on the opportunities to engage and drive engagement, loyalty and e-commerce”, says Murray.
Geronimo were recently recognised for just that at the APAC Marketing Effectiveness Awards (the Effies) for their work with KFC Australia. Working with their client and their agency partners, they were able to deliver a gamified, location-based, augmented and virtual reality experience, The Great Bucket Hunt. It was transformational for KFC Australia, driving huge downloads of their app, high repeat engagement from their customers as well as strong growth in e-commerce and instore sales, recognised by the multiple awards at the Effies.

Murray says, “AR & VR experiences, initially led by gaming, now have wide consumer adoption. In every market consumers are shifting from looking at their screens to looking through their screens, and they are happy to engage with brands where there is a great experience and real value or utility provided to the end user.” These shifts are coupled with the consumer movement to take greater control of their personal data, have experiences that live in many digital platforms and are part of their socially connected lives. In combination, driving a shift to Web3 where all these technologies come together.

The boom and bust of many crypto currencies and the initial fascination with speculative NFTs has left many wondering what the real opportunities might be for brands to engage consumers. Like many new technologies, focus is moving from the bright shiny objects to real utility and experience with Web3. A trend that has accelerated in the US & UK and APAC is catching up fast.

As consumers have engaged with mobile experiences on mass, so too have businesses as they capitalise on the opportunities to engage and drive engagement, loyalty and e-commerce

Geronimo has partnered with Smart Media Technologies (SMT) out of the US & Europe to provide brands and agencies with a scalable platform and professional services with an easy scalable pathway to building experiences in Web3. “With our partner SMT, we are able to provide an endto-end approach, built to make Web3 easy for consumers and business alike, enabling a more robust approach that encompasses all the touchpoints in a consumer’s digital and physical worlds. It connects media to e-commerce, where real sales can happen, and loyalty programs where real lifetime value can be built.” says Murray.

The next frontier in customer engagement is not on the horizon, it’s here, it’s now and Geronimo is continuing to stay a step ahead, bringing the best of Web2 and Web3 to their clients and partners across Australia and APAC.
